You can apply in person or by downloading the employment application and faxing it or mailing it to Human Resources.

How does the testing process work?

Testing for new hires is held certain times a year.  We will test Paramedics at any time by appointment. Approximately 3-4 weeks before a testing for new hires, post cards are sent out to applicants that are needed (Basics, Intermediates or Paramedics).  If you are able to make that testing, RSVP to the number provided to guarantee your spot for testing day.  We offer and encourage people to RSVP also for a testing workshop we offer a few days before the testing.

On testing day we ask that you dress comfortable and plan to be testing throughout the day.  The testing is a multi step process which aids us in selecting new-hires.

The first process is a written test.  This is based off of NDOT standard curriculum and geared towards each level.  The next process is to complete a medical and trauma scenario.  The forms are based off the same forms used by NREMT and can be found on their website at www.nremt.org.  You will then move onto an EMS Scenario Lift Test.  During this phase you will do CPR for 5 minutes, walk a designated distance carrying a standard issued jump bag and EKG Monitor, bring a weighted gurney from a lowered position to a higher position assisted, you will then carry standard issued equipment up and down a flight of stairs.  You will then go right into a human resources interview.

Job offers are usually made the same week.  New hire packets are sent out as soon as they are available and you will receive notification of when your orientation class will take place.

When will there be another testing?

Testings are held on an as needed basis.  It is important for you to have an application on file with us.  Applications are kept on file for one year.  As long as we have an application on file for you, you will receive notification of the next new-hire testing.  Please also remember to update your information with us if you move or change phone numbers to keep your contact information up to date.

What can I do before testing?

There are three parts you can start taking care of before actually testing with us:

1.  If you do not have a Southern Nevada Health District EMS Certification contact them at 702-759-1050 to find out what exactly you need to do to transfer your certification to Clark County.  If you are new to the system sometimes this part can be delayed while the Health District waits for information from your current state.  It is important to start this process with the Southern Nevada Health District as early as possible.

2.  Start studying the Southern Nevada Protocols.  Once hired on by an agency you will have to pass a protocol test administered by the Health District to get your licensure.  You can download the protocols here.

3.  Download the NREMT Medical Scenario and Trauma Scenario for your level by clicking here.  We use these forms to assist in evaluating you in your medical and trauma scenario portion of the testing.

How do I transfer my EMT license from another state to Clark County?

The process is different whether you are coming from another state and are Nationally Registered or not.  We ask that all candidates please contact the Health District at 702-759-1050 or by visiting the EMS Division on the web at www.cchd.org.

How can I contact Human Resources?

You can email Human Resources by sending an email to employment@medicwest.com.  They can also be reached by calling 702-650-9900.  The direct fax to Human Resources is 702-873-0051.
